Stories

As time passes by, so is some our family history. The stories that have been passed down through the generations or stories of what your grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.. are not being handed down the way they were before.

Those photos albums we got tortured being brought out every time someone came to the house, over and over, they just sit on the shelves or in the closets collecting dust. The photos we take of ourselves, our kids, our grandkids, etc.. on our phones to print out later, just sit there as well. Often not looked at again. When that happens the memories we had growing up are still there, but the kids of today, they don’t have those.

Far too often we are too busy on our mobile phones, with work, or other things and we keep saying, we’ll talk to them tomorrow, we will make a photo album tomorrow. Sadly tomorrow can come too soon and then you will only have regrets in what you did not do. 

I sadly lost my parents within a few months of each other because they had true love. While I did know some stories of them growing up, I so wish I had more, especially since they both lived through World War 2 in two different countries. Recently we have lost some other important members of our family and friends reminding us that time passes by way too fast.

So when you have a few minutes, make that phone call, ask that story, ask the history. When you go over to the house, ask the questions, write down the information, go through the photos, write down on the back who it is. Record these conversations and then later on write it all out so you can pass it on to the next generation of your family. Include your own stories and memories of growing up in them as well.

If you do find that you do not have the time to type it all out there are options out there for you to use. There are some are companies that will type it out and put it in a proper book form so that you can hold on to it and pass it down.
